THE STORY OF…

A world-class cancer centre

The brief

Flinders Foundation supports medical research and patient care across the Flinders medical precinct, in Adelaide’s south. In early 2022, the Foundation started thinking about how they could mark the 10th anniversary of the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer (FCIC), a world-class hub for cancer research, treatment and patient care. Ring-a-ding, they called upon STORYMKR to tell the story of the researchers, clinicians and patients who’ve shaped the Centre’s remarkable history

The hustle

First steps were to work out the key players involved in the multimillion-dollar fundraising campaign to raise the building from the ground, as well as those who continue to work in the centre and shape its legacy to this day. Importantly, the project involved the production of a three-minute video to be shown to more than 1000 people at the Foundation’s major annual fundraising ball, and at a VIP celebration in December 2022 (no pressure!).

The result

Ensuing feature articles – 12 all up – featured on a dedicated microsite, Flinders Faces. The stories were also published in the Foundation’s ‘Your Foundation’ newsletter, posted on social media and distributed through online news platform ‘InDaily’.

As far as the video goes, storyboards, scripts, recces and two days’ worth of interviews and b-roll resulted in this tear-jerker of a tale.
